The restoration of the Green Synagogue is the story of a wooden building. It is the story about a structure that ten years ago was put on the list of the 100 most endangered cultural monuments of Latvia. The original layout of the building, established in the mid-19th century, has been preserved, despite remodelling in 1939 and the 1970s. The synagogue's façades also preserve their original finish: profiled horizontal wood board cladding, window mouldings, original windows and other architectural elements.
In the interior, several historical finishes have been combined, creating the unique mood and feeling of space characteristic of this particular synagogue. Replicas of historical lighting devices, ironware and carpentry elements complement the general impression of the interior.
